Mortgage applications for new home purchases decreased 6 percent in January compared from a year ago, according to a survey by the Mortgage Bankers Association.

Weekly jobless claims have been in a yo-yo mode lately. This week ending February 15, claims for unemployment was back up to 219,000, from 213,000 the previous week. 2 weeks ago, claims were up to 220,000.
